The Kangaroo Part 13 – I Have a Dream

By

Stu Silver / “Uncle Zally” Zalman Velvel

======================================================

It’s 3:00 AM on Friday and I’m not back at the Kangaroo Convenience Store in Ocala, Florida, grabbing a super-large cup of Peruvian coffee.

I’m on a mountaintop in Israel, and I have a dream.

I also can’t sleep. (If you want to know why I can’t sleep, read my blog about the air in Israel:

http://zalmanvelvel.com/2011/06/17/kabbalah-kron-11/ )

My dream began when I realized the main benefit of living in one of our mobile home parks was the low cost. I wasn’t offering a better lifestyle, I was only offering a better price.

At our newest park, we offered “Friendly, Fun, and Affordable,” because the park was made up of real friendly senior citizens who watched out for one another. It was fun to live there because it was situated on a 400 acre lake filled with fish, right next to a 300,000 acre national park filled with fun things to do like hiking, mountain biking, four wheeling, target shooting, and horseback riding, to name a few.

And yes, once again, it was cheap to live there – affordable.

In my dream, I wanted to offer Friendly, Fun, and Affordable at all our parks, regardless of whether they were on a lake, or located next to a  recreation area.  I wanted to create mobile home parks that people couldn’t wait to move into, and didn’t want to ever leave.

My dream was enhanced tonight as I sat out on Yossi’s deck, taking in the incredible view of the valley, with the full moon lighting it up.

Yossi is my best friend in Israel. The picture on the left is him and his wife, Aviva.

Yossi is a righteous man who did something inspiring – he started the  town he lives in, called Maale Levona. He saw a wonderful place where  he wanted to build his home, and he persuaded 30 families to join him there. The ironic thing is that everyone lived in mobile homes (or caravans, as they are known in Israel) in the beginning until they could build more “permanent” structures. Today there are more than 100 families, and the first mobile homes are still there, used as classrooms and dormitories, looking more permanent than temporary.

Everyone who first came to Maale Levona had the same dream as Yossi – to create a town that would allow them to be happy, safe, and proud. Please don’t think they were starry-eyed idealistics. A strong part of the motivation of the early residents was having an affordable place to live – a home in Maale Levona cost one tenth of the same home in Jerusalem.

Do you see where I am heading? There is no reason that Yossi’s dream couldn’t be accomplished with an existing mobile home park.

If you read my book, Mobiile Home Wealth Part 2, you know that :

“When you own a mobile home park, you are the Mayor of your own little town.”

When you are the mayor, you can create a system for your mobile home park that will elevate it from strictly affordable housing, to a town that people can’t wait to move into, and never want to leave.

How?

We are going to explore that from now on. Together.

I am going to show you what Yossi did to create a strong community, and we are going to apply that to my mobile home parks, and see what happens. I am going to ask you to become a part of it with your thoughts, ideas, and advice.

Are you excited?

I know I am.

You see, today I had a dream …

“And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream …

I have a dream that people will one day live in a place where they will not be judged by the price of their home, but by the content of their life and their true character.”

I have a dream today!

Cheers, mate!
