Uncle Zally, The Mobile Home ManIf you have been following these Kronicles, then you read a previous 2 part series about creating neighborhoods in our mobile home parks, entitled “I have a Dream.” There was more to write, and I will report on it later in this blog.

Fran & David smiling and Uncle Zally The Mobile Home ManThe most recent 3 part series in this blog was about replacing a manager, entitled “Your Worst Fear.” Now it’s time to put both of these topics together, and give credit where it belongs, namely, to my wonderful wife, and partner, Fran. Her picture is on the left, along with my son, David.

Two weeks ago, she came to me after reading part II of “Your Worst Fear,” and she was upset. She said, “Who do you think spent an extra forty hours each week working with the new manager so our business recovered quickly, while you were in Israel?”

So, in deference to her, I added the following to “Your Worst Fear, Part II:”
“I owe a debt of gratitude to my wife, Fran, for taking charge during the transfer of managers, and maintaining stability during this challenging time, while I was out of the country. She worked long hours to correct any problems that arose, and she used ingenuity to improve the park.”

Well, this week I decided that wasn’t enough. I needed to elaborate. In terms of creating a neighborhood, Fran worked miracles. Let me give you a few examples:

Jones garden and Uncle Zally The Mobile Home ManWe now have a community garden, shown on the right. We started with three people interested in it, but now there are more than ten, with children and teenagers helping out. Fran helped George, who is in charge of the garden, choose the seeds and set up a propagation plan.

halloween-4 Uncle Zally on How to Buy a Mobile Home We also have Bingo on Tuesday nights. We started with ten people, and now there are more than 25 showing up, with the number growing each time. Fran goes to Bingo nights, along with our new manager, Tommy Wilson, shown on the left holding a doughnut tied to string for a Halloween game. Tommy calls out numbers. When new people show up, Fran has them stand and she introduces them to everyone.

Halloween 5 Uncle Zally on How to Buy a Mobile Home There was also a Halloween party in which fifty people attended. Handyman, Howard, who’s sitting on the back of the pickup truck, filled a lawn trailer with hay. They then towed it around the park, making a hayride for the kids and their parents.

The neighborhood watch program is a surprise success, especially to the criminals we've had arrested. There are a few older people who don’t sleep much, and a man who works nights, and they walk around the park in the early hours. They reported a group of teenage boys on bikes riding around the park at 3 AM. Tommy and Howard got up and chased them out of the park, into waiting police. There were two other incidents where Tommy got up late at night and turned in people who were not supposed to be there, to the Police.

Fran is also starting the Monthly Newsletter. We plan on having one that rivals our Ocala Park. If you would like to see a great monthly newsletter, click -> http://milldamlakeresort.com/Newsletter-nov-2011-smaller.pdf

family2 and Uncle Zally on How to Buy a Mobile HomeMy biggest debt of gratitude to Fran is the wonderful family she created for us. We learned that if you want to keep children, and grandchildren, close by – provide jobs for them.

And if you want to leave them lasting wealth, show them how to manage the wealth you leave them, which in our case, are mobile home parks.

Fran gave birth to our children, and I gave birth to our mobile home parks. However it is my family, and Fran in particular, who are the “care-givers” to our parks. We all work together, and party together every Friday night to celebrate the life we have.

And that is what makes it worthwhile. Thank you, Fran.

And … Cheers, mates!
